UDL Video: From the students' perspective

It's always important to view things from different perspectives, and I think this short video does a great job of sharing the principles of UDL from the students' point of view.  In watching this video I am also reminded of the need for curriculum reform that supports the type of 21st Century Learners in our classrooms today - regardless of their learning challenges. If we shift our focus to UDL, we engage ALL learners. If we could re-focus our curriculum to better reflect the information-rich world we live in, then I believe we would engage more educators in utilizing the principles of UDL more fully in their classrooms.

  2. Hello Dawn,
Excellent video highlighting the different perspectives associated with learning and teaching. This video is very modern and would be an excellent tool to use for the purpose of hosting a Professional Development presentation related to Universal Design for Learning.
You are so correct! Education is our greatest tool and enhancing awareness and understanding of UDL is essential for 21st Century Learners. Yes, it is crucial for a reform in education that fosters UDL. The research, resources, tools are easily accessible to all educators. Why aren't all educators incorporating UDL into their planning and delivery of curriculum? Great thought provoking post Dawn!

  3. Dawn, thanks so much for this video! It would be great to begin a staff meeting or PD session because it reminds us that active learning is what happens when good teaching is going on (and it has a good soundtrack!). Active learning doesn't necessarily require computer technology, but this technology can definitely help engage learners. You are proof of this--you have some good stories to share about using ipads in your classroom.
